ETHICAL MANIFESTO
The future of cinema remains human.
We believe in the power of stories, in human creativity and in cinema’s ability to move, inspire and transform the way we see the world.
Artificial intelligence is opening new possibilities for filmmaking. But for us, innovation does not mean erasing what already exists.
We do not want to replace traditional cinema. We want to value it, strengthen it and expand its possibilities.
We believe in hybrid productions, where live-action footage, directing, screenwriting, acting, cinematography, editing and generative effects can coexist and enrich one another.
We also believe that AI can make possible stories that, because of financial, technical or production limits, would never otherwise have seen the light of day.
AI Film Lab was born to explore this new language, always placing people, their skills and their creative freedom at its centre.
AI FILM LAB
Our 10 principles
Creativity is and remains human. AI is a tool in the service of imagination, not a replacement for human sensitivity, artistic vision and creative decisions.
We value traditional cinema. We recognise the value of established film professions, skills and techniques. Innovation must be in dialogue with this heritage, not erase it.
We promote hybrid filmmaking. We encourage productions that combine traditional techniques and generative tools, using AI to expand narrative, visual and production possibilities.
Technology must enable, not exclude. We believe talent should not depend on available financial resources. AI can reduce barriers to audiovisual production and offer new opportunities to independent filmmakers, young creatives and underrepresented communities.
We respect people and creative work. We support recognition of artistic and professional contributions, respect for human work and the development of new skills. Innovation must create opportunities, not depend on devaluing people.
We defend rights and consent. We promote the responsible use of images, voices, identities, works and protected materials, respecting copyright, privacy and the consent of everyone involved.
We believe in transparency. We encourage creators to communicate the role of AI in their productions clearly and proportionately, avoiding misleading content, unauthorised impersonations and potentially harmful representations.
We invest in education and experimentation. We do not just want to teach people to use new software. We want to develop storytelling skills, critical thinking, film culture and ethical awareness, encouraging collaboration among professionals from different disciplines.
We promote diversity, inclusion and culture. We believe in an open community that values different voices, experiences and identities. Technology should help preserve, reinterpret and share cultural heritage, enabling new forms of expression.
We put responsibility before technology. Every innovation brings opportunities and risks. We commit to critically evaluating its social, cultural, professional and environmental effects, keeping control and responsibility for decisions in human hands.
AI FILM LAB
Our vision
We do not believe in a future where artificial intelligence makes films instead of people.
We believe in a future where more people can make films, more stories can be told and new forms of expression can emerge from the meeting of human creativity and technology.
We welcome both entirely generative experimentation and hybrid productions, without considering one technique superior to another. What matters is the vision, the choices and the artistic intention.
Technology does not make a story great. What matters is what we have to tell.
The future of filmmaking is not human versus artificial. It is human, amplified by technology.
